May 3, 2003 With 17 Late Model Sportsman cars in attendance the field took to qualifying around 5:45 p.m. Jammie qualified with a time of 17.070. After the redraw his starting postion was 6th. On the opening lap he found room to slide to the inside behind the 45 of Doug Warren. As the front of the pack completed lap 1 Warren, the 95 of Danny Harrell, the 15 of Todd VanGuilder, and the 07 of Jimmy Overton wrecked in turn 3. Jammie made it through and moved into the 5th position. On the restart Jammie passed the 34 of Paul Debolt. The second caution of the night was thrown on lap 15. On the restart Jammie tried for 3rd from the 21 of Bobby Spivey and finally on lap 18 Jammie got it. There was a caution on lap 20 when Overton and the 28 of Billy Fisher spun on the frontstretch. There was another caution on lap 23 when Overton spun in turn 4. On lap 28 Spivey got under Jammie as well as the 14 of Shaun Balluzzo and Warren. This put Jammie in 6th. The 5th caution of the night was thrown on lap 37 when VanGuilder spun in turn 2. Once again the yellow was displayed on lap 44 when the 16 of Jeff Sampson spun on the backstretch. By this time the car that Jammie said was running so well in the beginning was ready to be done with this race. On lap 54 the 68 of Kevin Cunningham and Overton both passed Jammie.
