April 19, 2003 Engines could be heard all around as the sun broke through the clouds Saturday afternoon. Jammie made some last minute adjustments to the car and set out for qualifying. He made it around the track with a time of 17.083. This, however, only earned him a 7th place starting position. No complaints were made, though. Everyone agreed that they would take the inside over outside any day. As the chill set in, the Late Model Sportsmen took to the track. On the opening lap the 07 of Jimmy Overton got by Jammie as they entered the backstretch. Jammie quickly settled in and took his position back from Overton on lap 6. Things were smooth sailing until lap 12 when the 34 of Paul DeBolt spun in turn 4, causing the first caution of the night. DeBolt quickly turned himself around and the field set out once again, however, the 16 of Jeff Sampson spun on the restart. This caused another short caution. As the race restarted for a second time there was some good side-by-side racing which ultimately caused the third caution when the 15 of Todd VanGuilder got hit from behind and went sliding into the grass on the backstretch. In an attempt to avoid other cars, the 68 of Kevin Cunningham found his entire right side on top of the 28 of Billy Fisher. Both were unhurt and after a lengthy caution things got rolling once again. On lap 26 Jammie passed the 00 of Jimmy Adkins for 6th. Twenty laps later the 29 of Casey Wyatt got stuck on the outside and Jammie wasn't about to let him in. Jammie stuck to the inside line and gained the 5th position where he went on to finish. --Melissa Hilbourn, Goode's Motorsports Reporter
